Explore the urban wetlands that unique plants and animals call home. Weather permitting, students put on boots to wade in Murfree Spring, use a net to catch and release tadpoles, and have an up-close encounter with our wetlands animals.
FROM THE DISCOVERY CENTER:
*** Masks required indoors and out in close proximity*** Guided Field Study Itinerary & Rules of Play Arrival: Please arrive on time. If you are late, your program may be shortened. Often, another tour is schedule to begin when your tour ends. Format: - Guided field studies include a 60-minute field study consisting of 4 stations (number of stations may vary based on field trip theme) plus exploration in the museum. We reserve the right to split or combine classes to create an even number for education stations. We reserve the right to combine schools to effectively maximize museum space and staff. Exploration: For each guided tour, staff-led stations are accompanied by free exploration time within the museum. During free time, students must be chaperoned in small groups. Please maintain a ratio 1:10 adult to child ratio. Your teachers may choose to allow them to play in certain exhibits/floors for a time period and then move onto another exhibit/area or have free exploration of the whole museum for the entire exploration time. Splitting classes between floors is suggested for large groups. - Self-Guided Field Studies exploration tours last 3 hours to allow your group time to explore the museum’s exhibits, eat a snack/lunch, and take bathroom breaks. During this time, the students must be chaperoned in small groups. Please maintain a ratio 1:10 adult to child ratio. Should you decide to have lunch at the Discovery Center, you may use the tables at the covered patio, which are available on a first-come, first served basis. Rules of play: *please review with students before arrival* • Always use your walking feet • Return exhibit items to their home • School groups are not allowed in Tiny Town, it is for children under the age of 5 • 1 person at a time going down the slide, always go feet first, on your back pockets. Say “All Clear” at the bottom of the slide • Be courteous to other visitor’s around you
